19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former coach Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since that period of that year.

Success also means he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional championship, took control to force a final set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
